New York City subways 1979

“This is from a contact sheet made from some snapshots I took in early 1979, when the subway system was at its lowest point. Routine maintenance had been neglected for years, the trains were always breaking down, and graffiti was everywhere. The “I Love New York” poster adds some unintended irony. ”
